Letter Re: Venue Change
This is a copy of the letter sent to all members, by Pam Ellwood (Agility Section Secretary) informing them of a venue change. The letter includes directions to the venue and information on new class charges.
Dear Member,
As a club we have always trained outside all year round, changing from midweek in summer to Sundays in winter, but this does have its drawbacks. In winter we do lose some training because of bad weather and uncertain conditions on a Sunday morning can mean that few people turn up to train because they don't know if training will be on or not. In the summer, shortage of light at the beginning and end of the season results in changes of class times so members get confused as to when they should be arriving for training. For these reasons, we have been looking for a suitable indoor venue for the winter (until the evenings are long enough for outdoor training) and have been lucky enough to find one in Slyne.
For consistency so that classes can hopefully be held on the same days and at more or less the same times in winter and summer, beginning on Tuesday 6 th November, classes will be as follows:-
TuesdayStarters - Arrive 6-30pm to set up. Class ends 8pm. (The class itself is aimed to start at 6-45pm.)
Novice - 8-15pm to 9-30pm (including putting away time).
(Setting up and putting away will be much quicker than outside.)
ThursdayBeginners - Arrive 6-30pm to set up. Class ends 8pm. (The class itself is aimed to start at 6-45pm.)
Competition - 8-15pm to 9-30pm (including putting away time).
If you are in the current Beginners class and cannot make Tuesday, speak to Sue or me.
We appreciate that these changes may not suit everyone, but there have always been members who could only either do weekends or midweek and those whose opinions we canvassed were in favour, particularly as their weekends would then be free.
Now for the bad news. As may be expected, hiring an indoor venue is more expensive than outdoor, and training fees will rise to £3 per dog per class, with the exception that only £1 will be charged for a second dog in the same class.
Sunday 4 th November - Beginners class as usual at the kennels followed by Dog of the Season. After Dog of the Season, we will need help moving the equipment we will be using at the indoor venue.
Directions to New VenueFrom the South – Take the A6 north out of Lancaster along Lancaster Road , Slyne. Just before the turn off to the left to Slyne with Hest you will see a sign at the end of a single track lane on the left saying Lowbrook Barn (next door to the venue).* Go up this lane and through the gate on the left at the end and you’re there.
From the North - Take the A6 south towards Lancaster through Slyne, past the Cross Keys and the turn off to the right to Slyne with Hest .The lane is next on your right. You will see the back of the sign to Lowbrook Barn from that direction. Continue from * above.
If you get lost, Sue’s mobile number is 07908560302
At the Venue
We will see how these arrangements work until Christmas and then consider if any adjustments need to be made.
Yours sincerely,
Pam Ellwood
